Terms of use

Effective 29 August 2026

By using wassiya.org you agree to what follows. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past, because the most important clause — that this is not advice and has not yet been certified by anyone — is one you genuinely need to know.

01What this service is

Wassiya is an educational calculator. It applies the fixed inheritance shares set out in the Qur’an to a family structure you describe, and shows the resulting fractions. It performs arithmetic and explains its reasoning. That is all it does.

02What this service is not

It is not legal advice. Using it creates no attorney-client relationship. Nothing here is tailored to your circumstances or to the law of your state.

It is not a religious ruling. Using it creates no relationship with a scholar or mufti, and it is not a fatwa. Where the schools of law differ, the Method page says so and the calculator declines to answer.

It is not a will, and it does not create one. A will must be written, signed, and witnessed according to the law of your state to have any effect. The will this service drafts is produced in English whatever language you read the site in, because it is an instrument an American court has to construe.

03It has not been certified

Stated plainly because it matters: the calculations on this site have not yet been reviewed or certified by a qualified scholar, and the legal statements on it have not been reviewed by a licensed attorney. Translations of the interface have not been reviewed either, and every page in a language other than English says so at the top. The Method page sets out every rule applied and every case declined, so that both reviews are possible. Until they are complete, treat the output as a study aid and verify it before acting.

04No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the calculations are correct, that any translation is accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that any defect will be fixed.

05Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither the operator of this site nor anyone contributing to it is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of property, inheritance, profit, or opportunity, arising from your use of or reliance on this service — even if advised that such damage was possible.

The service is provided free of charge. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited in aggregate to one hundred United States dollars.

06Your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for any decision you take. Before acting on anything here, consult a qualified scholar on the religious rulings and a licensed attorney in your state on the law. Estate planning has consequences that are difficult or impossible to reverse after death.

07Acceptable use

Do not use the service unlawfully, attempt to disrupt it, or present its output as certified, official, or as your own professional advice to others.

08Support and future features

Voluntary contributions to the running of the site are exactly that. They are not tax-deductible charitable donations, no charitable receipt is issued, and no goods or services are provided in return.

Some charitable organisations that may appear in future versions of the service could contribute to its running costs. Where that is so it will be disclosed on the page where you choose, and it will never affect the order in which organisations are shown.

09Changes

These terms may change. The effective date above will be updated when they do, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

10Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of «set your state», without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Where a translated version of these terms differs from the English, the English governs.

11Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@wassiya.org.
