Privacy

Effective 29 August 2026

The short version: what you type into the calculator never leaves your device. There is no account, no cookie, no analytics, and no database holding your family details. This is not a promise about how we behave — it is how the site is built, and the section below explains how you can check.

What we do not collect

Everything you enter — who survives you, how many children, the value of your estate — is processed entirely inside your own browser. The calculation runs as JavaScript on your device. None of it is transmitted to us, because there is nothing to transmit it to: the site is a set of static files with no server-side code and no database.

The page is served with a Content-Security-Policy that forbids it from making network requests to anywhere but its own origin. Even if a dependency were compromised, it could not send your details elsewhere. You can verify this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and use the calculator. You will see no requests carrying your answers.

We set no cookies. We use no analytics, no advertising, no session recording, and no third-party trackers of any kind. Your choice of language is carried in the address of the page you are reading and is not stored either.

What our host necessarily sees

Being honest about the one thing we cannot avoid: the site is hosted on Vercel, and like any web host their servers record standard access logs when a page is requested. Those logs contain your IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, and your browser’s user-agent string. That is the same information every website you visit receives, it is created before our code runs, and we do not combine it with anything else or use it to build a profile. It never contains anything you typed into the calculator.

The one planned exception

We intend to add a feature that lets you tell a charity you have named it in your will, so it can thank you and stay in touch. This is not yet available. When it arrives it will work like this, and we are stating it here in advance so the change is never a surprise:

  • It will be offered only after your document is complete, never during.
  • It will be off by default, and require a deliberate action to turn on.
  • If you turn it on, only your name, your contact details, and which organisation you named are sent. Your family details and the contents of your estate are never sent, to anyone, under any circumstance.
  • If you do not turn it on, nothing leaves your browser and this page stays true as written.

Some of the organisations shown may support the running of this site financially. Where that is the case it will be stated plainly on the screen where you choose, and it will never affect the order they appear in.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. We mention them for completeness, but in practice there is nothing to act on: we hold no personal data about you. If that ever changes — through the feature described above — you will be able to withdraw at any time by contacting us, and we will delete what we hold.

Children

This site is intended for adults making estate plans and is not directed at children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes we will update the effective date above. Material changes to how your information is handled will be announced on the site rather than made quietly.
